Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser: A New Type of “Hotel”
Originally slated to open in 2021, the highly-anticipated Star Wars hotel, an adventure called Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, made its grand debut on March 1, 2022, following pandemic-related delays. It is located at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a two-night, fully-immersive Star Wars experience aboard a Halcyon starcruiser. It is an entirely new concept and the world’s first Star Wars hotel where guests are immersed in their own Star Wars adventure.
From the moment guests board the Halcyon starcruiser, they become the “hero” or “villain” of their own story. While exploring the ship, they may come across new and familiar Star Wars characters and participate in exciting adventures that play a role in what happens next.
The Halcyon Starcruiser is a “fully-functioning ship,” with its own crew, dining rooms, bars, and shops.
Announced on May 30, 2018, the hotel’s prime location is just south of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. To maintain the illusion of space travel, guests at the hotel are transported directly to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge via a shuttle-pod system designed to resemble a spacecraft. The interior of the shuttle allows guests to feel as though they are journeying between the hotel and the park while traversing the vast expanse of space and descending to the planet’s surface.
Other activities aboard the Halcyon include lightsaber training and duels, exploring and piloting Star Wars spacecraft, and personalized “secret missions.”
