Disney Cruise Line unveiled sneak peak at its upcoming new ship, the Disney Destiny this week. The ship is being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany and is expected to be delivered sometime in 2025.
The upcoming Disney Destiny cruise ship, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will immerse guests in a world of “Heroes and Villains.” This unique theme draws inspiration from classic Disney stories, characters, and attractions. Guests will be challenged to discover their own inner hero (or villain!) during their voyage. Expect to encounter iconic figures from classics like “The Lion King,” “Hercules,” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” through the ship’s design, experiences, and entertainment.
“The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests,” according to Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Cruise Line.
Inspiration and Style for Disney Destiny
The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams envisioned an experience aboard the Disney Destiny that mirrors the transformative journeys found in classic Disney stories. Heroes and villains represent the opposing forces that shape our choices. By immersing guests in this duality, Disney Destiny provides a unique opportunity for self-reflection and discovery. The ultimate question is, “Which path will you choose?”
The Disney Destiny proudly upholds the tradition of intricate bow artwork, a hallmark of Disney Cruise Line ships. This captivating filigree features a reimagined Minnie Mouse as a beacon of heroism. Her powerful stance and flowing cape embody the spirit of the “Heroes and Villains” theme. Minnie becomes a symbol of the bold adventures that await guests as they set sail.
Disney Cruise Line’s Triton class
Disney Destiny is part of the Triton class family of Disney ships, which also includes the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. Each has its own unique theme:
- Disney Wish: Focused on wishes and the enchanting world of Disney fairytales.
- Disney Treasure: Embodies a spirit of adventure and exploration.
- Disney Destiny: Centers on the dynamic duality of heroes and villains across Disney stories.
The three ships share many characteristics, including core design, overall size, and onboard features. Each has a grand hall specifically designed to the theme of the ship.
